Leopard? Bored now.

Leopard is old hat. It's been out for a few months now. I'm bored with it. We need to move on.

First, please take part in my poll. What do we think the next version of OS X will be called?

Secondly, does anyone have any ideas (as wacky as you like) as to what the next big features in OS X will be? We've had Fast User Switching, Exposé, Spotlight and Time Machine. What's next? What would you like to see?

You have started me thinking...I'll get back to you!

I know this is a really bad thing to do, strictly against blogging etiquette, but to see my views on this subject, you need to look here. Sorry Steve.

Is that "blotiquette" ?

No, blotiquette is that new range of sanitary towels.

Lynx or Cougar (they are the other big cat names that Apple has trademarked).

Stacks need sorting out: they're rubbish, particularly the disparity between the grid view and bendy pole view. No cascading!

I agree with some of Jo's ideas: iTunes and Finder need to be munged together in some way... now that there is coverflow in the finder, and quickview so you can play movies, audio files in the finder, as well as iTunes. Might as well throw iPhoto and iMove into the mix! And Mail. I'm sure there's things they could do to improve the Mail/iCal interaction, why are To Dos anything to do with email anyway? Just because Entourage did that sort of thing... And yet the Address Book, which is more relevant to Mail is separate?!?!
Dashboard: Don't understand it really. Ability to drag windows between Spaces without pressing F8. Spotlight still needs some work. Why does it not find some files sometimes?

In terms of hardware: there needs to be a more-than-one-drive version of TimeCapsule to provide better security for your backups. A new pealess mouse, or a properly cleanable mouse pea. New cinema displays with HDMI and built-in iSight (behind screen, or the screen itself, as Jo says). A Mac Mini that can drive a 30" display. A fullsize wireless keyboard.
